​Brett A. Basden, O.D.

​Dr. Basden graduated from Auburn University earning a Bachelor of Science degree and from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree. He completed his Externship at the Tuscaloosa V.A. Hospital.  Dr. Basden has been in private practice serving the Auburn-Opelika area since 1993.  Dr. Basden is a member of the Alabama Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Basden has served as a Senior Examiner for the National Board of Examiners for credentialing graduating Optometrists. 

He and his wife, Katie, reside in Auburn with their children Brittany Anne, Bradley and Kallie (Miller) Merritt. Dr. Basden and his family worship at Church of the Highlands, faithfully support all Auburn University athletics, and have enjoyed coaching Miracle League baseball for over 12 years.

​Daniel J. Eagan, O.D.

​Dr. Daniel Eagan graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University in 2001 and a Doctor of Optometry degree in 2007 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. While at UAB, Dr. Eagan rotated through various internship programs emphasizing primary care optometry, ocular disease, pediatric vision, and surgical co-management. In 2007 he completed his externship at the Birmingham V.A. Hospital.  In addition to his duties at Basden Eyecare, Dr. Eagan provides much needed eye care to the elderly at several skilled nursing facilities in the area. He also serves as a consultant staff member to several hospitals in the area.  He is currently a member of the Alabama Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Eagan resides in Auburn with his wife Abigail and their two sons Jack and Jude. 

​Rob Pate, O.D.

Dr. Rob Pate has practiced at Basden Eye Care since 2015 after moving from Birmingham, AL where he practiced for nearly a decade. He has been an advocate for optometry at the state, regional, and national levels—serving in various roles within the American Optometric and Alabama Optometric Associations as well as Trustee for the Southern Council of Optometrists (SECO). Dr. Pate currently serves as a member of the Alabama Board of Optometry.

Dr. Pate and his wife, Dana, also own sweetFrog Premium Frozen Yogurt in Auburn and are board members for the local nonprofit ministry Marriage in Focus. Dr. Pate also served as an elder of Auburn Community Church for seven years. The Pates have five children, a son-in-law, and one granddaughter—Charlotte. 

Melanie Denton, O.D.

Dr. Melanie Denton graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences from Auburn University in 2006 and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the UAB School of Optometry in 2010. She completed a post-graduate residency at the Tuscaloosa V.A. Hospital and later practiced in Colorado and South Carolina. She has experience working in a large multi-specialty group, a refractive surgery center, and in private practice.

Dr. Denton specializes in comprehensive adult and pediatric examinations and has extensive experience with ocular disease including cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes, and hypertension. She performs pre- and post-operative management of cataracts and refractive surgery. Dr. Denton is currently accepting new patients of all ages.

She resides in Auburn with her husband, Peyton, and their four children Caleb, Hannah, Gracie, and Emily where she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, running, hiking, and skiing. Dr. Denton is an active member of her church Trinity Presbyterian in Opelika.
